The World of Zero Angels
The year is 2235
It has been 75 years since the first Gorgon attack. Direct records are largely destroyed, but it is known that the first Gorgon was found somewhere in the southern hemisphere of the Earth, followed by a massive number of Gorgons spotted near the Arctic Circle.
In 2160, they became active in an event known only as the Awakening, which resulted in a catastrophic loss of life worldwide, reducing the Earth’s population to a mere 2 billion people in a matter of hours.The Gorgons expended their energy in one final act of malice against humanity, shattering themselves in an act which left vast swaths of the land and water corrupted beyond repair.
The United Federation
In 2175, the remaining people of the Earth chose to unite themselves under a series of continental governments, brought together for the singular purpose of ensuring that humanity would survive to see another day.
With this, the United Federation was born, made up of its Constituent States. The world began to rebuild, slowly picking up the pieces from the Gorgon’s attack.
The Foundation for Human Continuity
Humanity thought themselves safe, until 2181, when a Gorgon attack on the North American Constituent State wiped out tens of thousands of people before finally being brought down by the United Federation Armed Services.
Recognizing the threat presented to them, the UF executive board approved the creation of a new organization in 2187.This organization, separate from the UFAS and only loosely bound by UF executive oversight, would be known as the Foundation for Human Continuity, more commonly referred to as the Foundation.The Foundation was tasked with the continued study, analysis, and elimination of the Gorgon threat, no matter the cost.
The Vital Frame Corps
In 2191, Foundation scientists developed the first Vital Frames, integrating technology designed to specifically combat the Gorgon threat.
The Vital Frames have evolved from the clunky Mechanized Mobile Infantry Platforms of the UFAS to elegant weapons honed against the Gorgons, integrating the latest in humanity's research and development, and dedicated to ensuring combat effectiveness and pilot survivability!
Extensive research determined that the ideal Pilot Candidates were lesbian women between the ages of 20 and 45, regardless of characteristics such as race, ethnicity, Constituent State of origin, religion, neurotype, disability, or transgender status.Recognizing the difficulty and danger inherent in piloting the Vital Frames, the Foundation offers substantial compensation upon completion of a successful term of service as a Vital Frame Pilot.
For the past 48 years, the Foundation has continued to fight against the Gorgons.The citizens of the UF Constituent States are well aware that their lives are always in peril from this enemy, and that the pilots of the Foundation’s Vital Frame Corps are the only thing truly holding back the tide and ensuring their continued existence.And in the Northwestern Territory of the North American Constituent State, stationed near the city of New Vancouver, the 92nd Pilot Cadre stands ready to meet the Gorgon threat head-on!
